I had the privilege of meeting Mr. Rabbe at the 2004 "Autumn at Oz" festival in Beech Mountain, NC. The festival is an annual October event which takes place at the old Land of Oz Theme Park which closed in 1980.
Mr. Rabbe, despite being 89 and in poor health, warmly greeted visitors and signed autographs throughout the weekend. Upon my request, he even sang his famous line "As coroner I must aver..." (while wearing his blue Munchkin costume) and then I had my picture taken with him.
I was sorry to learn that Mr. Rabbe no longer attends the Autumn At Oz festival due to his age and health, and I feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to meet and talk with this famous and very unique UW alumnus.

Meinhardt - Among your many accomplishments there might not be many that remember that you were the first Little Oscar for Oscar Mayer & Co. My name is Jerry Ringlien and I worked for Oscar for many years as General Sales Promotion Manager and finally as VP of Marketing Services.
In that position the Little Oscars and the Wienermobiles were my responsibility.
I know the full story on how you came to be a Little Oscar and the wonderful Little Oscar program that you initiated.
Congratulations. It was great hearing of you.
