His new residence will be the Highlands Retirement Community in Topsham, Maine. Lothar Huehne, MBA '56, MS '59, PhD '62, was awarded the Monmouth College Distinguished Alumnus Award. Huehne earned his undergraduate degree from the Illinois school in 1954. Elaine Beaubien, MBA '75, a professor at Edgewood College, was honored recently with the creation of a teaching award. The Estervig-Beaubien Excellence in Teaching and Mentoring Award is the first student-sponsored teaching award at the Madison-based private college. Thomas M. Shannon, BBA '77, the newly appointed president and CEO of the Waukesha, Wis. -based Prodesse, Inc., received $1.5 million in investment backing recently for his diagnostics testing company. Jim Newpert, MBA '78, is vice president of marketing for Guidant Corp. He works in Menlo Park, CA. 1980-1989 Ronald Kaliebe, MBA '80, recently accepted a position with Mairs and Power as vice president-portfolio manager. Mairs and Power is an investment advisory firm based in St. Paul, Minn. Ian Worden, MS '81, was recently named executive vice president-finance and CFO for Central Indiana Health System. Worden resides in Indianapolis. Daniel Gillette, BBA '83, owns Worldwide Gateway Resources, a Madison-based firm assisting entrepreneurs and businesses to develop products and locate manufacturing facilities throughout the world. Bruce O. Scheer, BBA '84, was promoted to vice president-retail sales at Signature Fruit Company in Bloomingdale, Ill. Judyth A. Swingen, PhD '84, was recently appointed associate dean of graduate studies for the University of Arkansas at Little Rock College of Business Administration. Juli-Kay Baumann, BBA '85, an insurance company examiner with the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance, is co-owner of Pearl's Dive Bar and Grille in Albuquerque, N.M. The establishment is celebrating its third anniversary this year. Gladys Hart De Clouet, MBA '86, is the vice president of operations for Jack in the Box restaurants. She lives in San Diego. Terry Leavitt, BBA '88, is the director of planning and allocations for Stage Stores, Inc., based in Houston, Texas. Dana Hoffman, BBA '89, left a six-year career in corporate sales at AT&T to become a commercial pilot and currently is a flight instructor in Atlanta. 1990-1994 Theresa A. Hammond, PhD '90, recently published A White Collar Profession: African American Certified Public Accountants since 1921. The book chronicles the history of African Americans' exclusion from the field of accounting. Michael R. Murray, BBA '90, was appointed vice-president, private client group, at the Franklin, Wis., office of Robert W. Baird & Co. Murray, who recently earned his certified financial planner designation, resides in Brookfield, Wis. Rich Derks, BS '82, MBA '91, CEO of SmartAlecSystems.com, recently received an endorsement from the eMarketing Association for his company's release of a new software product called the "Dot-Com Survival System," a tool used to plan, implement and measure internet marketing activities. Derks and his wife, Sandy, along with their two children, reside in Mundelein, Ill. Elaine Worzaca, BBA '84, MS '86, PhD '92, was named full professor and research director for the Real Estate Institute of the University of San Diego. Brian Pinsker, BBA '94, recently joined Viking Global Investors in New York City, running the firm's healthcare equities as a portfolio manager. He is engaged to marry Stacy Friedman this fall. 1995-2001 Kimberly Corteen, BBA '99, was named corporate communications associate for the Chicago-based Navigant Consulting, Inc. Bill Howe, BBA '99, is the accounting manager for Peerless Corp. in Paragould, Ark. He lives in Jonesboro. Jessica Baltz, BBA '99, is a marketing associate for W.W. Grainger in Lake Forest, Ill., and resides in Chicago. Brett J. Armstrong, BBA '92, MBA '00, joined Madison Valuation Associates as a financial analyst. Jeff Dropp, BBA '01, was recently named transportation analyst for the Knoxville, Tenn., office of Kimberly-Clark. Ryan Marks, BBA '01, is a financial analyst for Robert W. Baird & Co. in Milwaukee.
