He had retired to Florida in 1978 after many years with Chicago National Bank, where he began as a teller and eventually became a vice president after Chicago National merged with Harris Ronald Heilmann, BBA '62, MBA '63, an authority on quality assurance and productivity, died in October after a long illness. Heilmann, who earned his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, had worked in a variety of positions there since 1973. Most recently, he was program director in executive programs in its School of Business Administration. He co-founded and served as president of the nonprofit corporation, the National Education Quality Initiative. Stephen R. Berg, MBA '74, died unexpectedly February 13 from a heart attack. Berg, 52, was a senior account executive at the printing company Quebecor World in New York City. A high school and college basketball star, Berg attended Northwestern University on a basketball scholarship, earning his BA in 1972. John C. Owen, BBA '75, of Vernon Hills, Ill., died February 14 at the age of 49. His last position was manager, general accounting for SPS Transaction Services, Deerfield, Ill. Previously, he held several accounting positions for Kraft Foods in Glenview, Ill., and Beaver Dam, Wis. He is the nephew of the late Madison Realtor Donald Hovde, BBA '53.
