Professor Mark Covaleski, Accounting and Information Systems, won the
Journal of Management Accounting Research’s Best Paper Award for
co-authoring a paper on budgeting research.
Real Estate Department Chair Stephen Malpezzi was recently elected second
vice president of the American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association.
Bolz Center Director Andrew Taylor was a contributing author for a recent
monograph on the role of arts and culture in building creative communities,
published by Americans for the Arts.
Michael Mihelbergel, a current member of the board of the Center for Urban
Land Economics Research (CULER), joined the center as its new administrative
director. He has more than 20 years of experience in the real estate
industry and most recently was managing director and division head in the
Bank of America’s Real Estate Banking Group.
Dante Viscarra has joined the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) as a
part-time business counselor to serve the Madison area’s growing Latino
population. The SBDC is working in collaboration with several area
organizations to provide business services to the Latino Community.
This spring, the School of Business honored faculty and staff for their
teaching and public service. Associate Professor James Seward, Finance,
received the Lawrence J. Larson Excellence in Teaching Award. Associate
Professor Terry Warfield, Accounting, received the Robert A. Jerred
Distinguished Service Award. Assistant Professor Holly Ashbaugh, Accounting,
received the Mabel W. Chipman Excellence in Teaching Award. Professor Anne
Miner, Management, received the Erwin A. Gaumnitz Distinguished Faculty
Award. Teaching Professor Sandra Stark, Business Communications, was awarded
the Dean’s Academic Staff Teaching Award. Assistant Professor Divakaran
Liginlal, Operations and Information Management, was given the Lawrence J.
Larson Curriculum Improvement Grant.
