Kimberly-Clark CEO Thomas J. Falk Named Distinguished Accounting Alumnus

Thomas J. Falk

Thomas J. Falk, BBA '80, president and chief executive officer of Kimberly-Clark Corporation, was named the Distinguished Accounting Alumnus for 2002. He was honored by the Department of Accounting and Information Systems at a dinner in October.

Falk was named to the top posts at Kimberly-Clark Corporation in September 2002. Previously, he was the firm's president and chief operating officer. Kimberly-Clark is a global corporation that employs more than 64,000 people. In 2002, it was named by Fortune magazine as one of the 100 best companies for which to work.

Falk has worked for Kimberly-Clark since 1983, holding positions of increasing responsibility and authority. Under his leadership, the company successfully integrated Kimberly-Clark and Scott Paper operations following the merger of the two companies in late 1995. In 1999, he was named to the company's Board of Directors. Before joining the internal audit staff of Kimberly-Clark, Falk was with the accounting firm of Alexander Grant & Co. He is a Certified Public Accountant.

In 1988, under Kimberly-Clark sponsorship, he earned a master of science degree in management as a Sloan Fellow at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business. His undergraduate degree from the School of Business was in accounting.
Falk serves as a national trustee of the Boys and Girls Clubs of America and is on the Dallas Regional Advisory Board for JP Morgan Chase. Falk was a member of the Dean's Advisory Board of the UW-Madison School of Business from 1997-2001.
