Women's Entrepreneurship Initiative Launched This Fall

The School of Business is part of an innovative program for women business owners. LEAP (Launching Entrepreneurial Advisory Panels) is a program designed to create advisory panels for women entrepreneurs who want to expand or enhance existing businesses.

Managed by the business school's Weinert Center for Entrepreneurship with input from an advisory group to the School of Business, the Women in Business Council, LEAP is funded by a $41,000 Coleman Foundation Entrepreneurship Awareness and Education Grant.

The LEAP program began in the summer by recruiting volunteer advisory panels for women entrepreneurs. Training for entrepreneurs and advisory panels began in the fall. Nine entrepreneurs selected this fall have been working with their advisory panels, which are composed of experienced lawyers, bankers and business owners. A similar number of entrepreneurs will be selected in the spring.
