Act for the World: Educational Forum on the United Nations Millennium Development Goals

Thursday, October 22, 4:00PM to 7:00PM

Great Hall, Memorial Union

Many students would like to become more knowledgeable about the world's most urgent development challenges, such as extreme poverty and hunger, HIV/AIDS and malaria, universal education, gender equality, maternal and child health, environment, and technology - issues that form the core of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals. If you're one of them and would also like to learn how you can become involved in the solutions on a local, national, or international volunteer or internship level, this free forum will be very helpful. Presentations will be given by UW faculty on the history of the goals and progress around the world. Interactive display tables on each goal will be staffed by affiliated student organizations, and campus and community organizations that facilitate volunteer and other opportunities will be available. Hypnotiq (Hip Hop Dance) and the West African Dance of Madison will perform. Sponsored by International Student Services, Global Studies, Wisconsin Union Directorate, and many others. Please contact mdgap@odos.wisc.edu with any questions. For a detailed event schedule see: http://www.iss.wisc.edu/mdgap/.
