Liberal Studies Requirements
Students who first started college coursework Summer 2003 or after must complete the following Liberal Studies Requirements prior to graduation from the School of Business. Students who matriculated prior to Summer 2003 should see their academic advisor and/or their DARS report for any potential changes to these requirements.
Communications Part B
Students must complete one Communications Part B (Comm B) course prior to graduation. Comm B courses are designated with a "b" in the Timetable and a list can be found online on the Letters and Sciences web site.
NOTE 1: In some courses, only specified lectures are acceptable and/or only certain topics are available. Refer to Timetable footnotes for complete information.
NOTE 2: Students must complete 9 total credits of communications courses prior to graduation. Communications courses are those courses designated as Comm A (a), Literature (L) and Comm B (b). Students who are exempt from Communications part A (based on UW placement test only!) must complete 6 total credits of Literature and Comm B courses.
Ethnic Studies
One 3 (or more) credit ethnic studies course. Students interested in Business are strongly encouraged to fulfill this requirement in their first two years of coursework.
Courses that meet the ethnic studies requirement for the School of Business are the same as those required by the College of Letters and Science. Ethnic studies courses are designated with an "e" in the Timetable.
Social Studies
One 3 (or more) credit social studies course.
Social studies courses are designated with an "S" or "Z" in the Timetable. Note: Economics courses, School of Business courses and Psych 202 (or equiv) may NOT be used to satisfy this requirement.
