There are four ways students admitted to the School of Business may
complete a major in Management and Human Resources (M H R). For detailed
course descriptions, please consult the Undergraduate Catalog.
- Complete the requirements for the management option only (students still earn a major in MHR)
- Complete the requirements for the human resources option only (students still earn a major in MHR)
- Complete the requirements for the entrepreneurship option only (students still earn a major in MHR). NOTE: Starting in the Fall of 2008, there will no longer be an admission process or enrollment cap on the entrepreneurship option. Students wishing to add this major should do so by completing the Major Declaration form. Students should see their academic advisors or the MHR department with questions about this policy.
- Complete the requirements for two of the three options. NOTE: Completing two options still constitutes ONE major. Students may not receive credit for completing all three options.
In addition, the following rules apply when combining options
- Students may complete only two of three options (you are not permitted to complete the option in human resources, the option in management, and the option in entrepreneurship).
- For successful completion of TWO options, a student must take a minimum of 18 credits from among the listed courses.
- Double counting of MHR 399 across options within the MHR major is prohibited.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP
NOTE: Starting in the Fall of 2008, there will no longer be an admission process or enrollment cap on the entrepreneurship option. Students wishing to add this major should do so by completing the Major Declaration form. Students should see their academic advisors or the MHR department with questions about this policy.
- Complete MHR 422 (3 credits), Small Business Management and Entrepreneurship
- Complete MHR 427 (3 credits), Entrepreneurial Growth Strategies
- Complete two of the courses listed below or one course below and
one elective course:
- MHR 434 (3 credits), Venture Creation
- MHR 399 (3 credits or more), Readings and Research
- FIN 457 (3 credits), Entrepreneurial Finance
ELECTIVE COURSES for the Entrepreneurship Option:
School of Business Courses on these elective lists can not be used to satisfy the breadth requirement.
- MHR 365 (3 credit minimum), Contemporary Topics in MHR
- MHR 305 (3 credits), Human Resource Management
- MHR 401 (3 credits), The Management of Teams
- MHR 403 (3 credits), Global Issues in Management
- MHR 423 (3 credits), Strategic Management
- MHR 470 (3 credits), Seminar: Organizational Issues
- MHR 628 (3 credits), Negotiations
HUMAN RESOURCES
- MHR 305 (3 credits), Human Resource Management
- Complete three of the courses below OR two of the courses below and one elective course
- MHR 610 (3 credits), Compensation Theory and Administration
- MHR 611 (3 credits), Personnel Staffing and Evaluation
- MHR 612 (3 credits), Labor-Management Relations

- MHR 423 (3 credits), Strategic Management
- MHR 470 (3 credits), Seminar: Organizational Issues
