Certificates and Specializations

The School of Business offers several programs beyond the degree in Business. Please be aware that some programs are only open to admitted, School of Business students. Other programs require admission on a competitive basis.

 

 

 

Certificate in French Studies

The Certificate in French Studies is administered through the Department of French & Italian. Students interested in earning a Certificate in French Studies for Business Students should contact the French Department (608) 262-3941, 618 Van Hise Hall for information on this option. Certificate in German Studies

The Certificate in German Studies is administered through the German Department. Students interested in earning a Certificate in German Studies for Business Students should review the Undergraduate Catalog or call (608) 262-2192 for information on this option. Students must earn admission to the School of Business to be eligible for the Certificate in German.

 

 

 

Certificate in Spanish Studies

The Certificate in Spanish Studies is administered through the Spanish Department. Students interested in earning a Certificate in Spanish Studies for Business Students should review the Spanish department's website or call (608) 262-2093 for information on this option. Students must earn admission to the School of Business to be eligible for the Certificate in Spanish.

 

 


 

Certificate in Business for Non-Business Students

The Certificate in Business (CIB) program provides non-business students the opportunity to earn a concentration in a clearly defined academic program in business. Admission to the CIB program is competitive and requires an application. Health Care Management Specialization

Students interested in earning a Health Care Management Specialization should complete the following list of requirements.

  1. Admission to the School of Business
  2. The Health Care Management Specialization must be in conjunction with a School of Business major.
  3. Complete three courses from the following list:

    - Hist Med 218 (3 credits), History of 20th Century American Medicine
    - Hist Med 504 (3 credits), Society and Health Care in American History
    - Hist Med 507 (3-4 credits), Health Disease and Healing I

    - Hist Med 509 (3 credits), The Development of Public Health in America
    - Hist Med 531 (3 credits), Women and Health in American History
    - Hist Med 553 (3 credits), International Health and Global Society
    - Nurs 105 (2 credits), Health Care Systems: Interdisciplinary Approach
    - Philos 558 (3 credits), Ethical Problems Raised by Biomedical Technology
    - Poli Sci 440 (3-4 credits), Health Policy and Health Politics
    - Pop Hlth 471 (3 credits), Introduction to Environmental Health
    - Soc 525 (3 credits), Sociology of Mental Health and Mental Disorders
    - Soc 531 (3 credits), Sociology of Medicine
    - Soc 635 (3 credits), Cross-National Health Services Systems and Public Policy

Supply Chain Management Specialization

Students interested in earning a Supply Chain Management Specialization should complete the following list of requirements and visit the Grainger Center for Supply Chain Management located in 3450 Grainger Hall.

  1. Admission to the School of Business
  2. Complete these six courses:
        -MKT/OTM 421 (3 credits), Fundamentals of Supply Chain Management
        -MKT/OTM 423 (3 credits), Procurement and Supply Management
        -MKT/OTM 422 (3 credits), Logistics Management
        -MKT 425 (3 credits), Marketing Channels
        -OTM 654 (3 credits), Production Planning and Control
        -MKT 365 (3 credits), Enterprise Systems and Supply Chain Management
  3. Complete one course from the following list:
        - MKT 310 (3 credits), Marketing Research
        - MKT 640 (3 credtis), Retail Management
        - OTM 410 (3 credits), Operations Research I
