Lawton Undergraduate Minority Retention Grant
About the Grant:
The Lawton Undergraduate Minority Retention Grant was established in 1986 by the Legislature for Wisconsin resident and Minnesota reciprocity target minority students (African-American, Hispanic/Latino(a), American Indian and statutorily designated Southeast Asians--Cambodian, Hmong, Laotian and Vietnamese).
The purpose of the Lawton Grant is to improve retention and graduation rates by monitoring students' academic progress and reducing their loan indebtedness. Grants can range up to $2,500 per year based on financial need as determined by the Office of Student Financial Services. Students can have 8 semesters of Lawton or $10,000 or whichever comes first. You must reapply each school year for this grant.
The Lawton Grant is administered jointly by the Student Academic Affairs Offices of the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the respective schools/colleges and the Office of Student Financial Services. This application is only for School of Business students. Final decisions on awards are determined by the Office of Student Financial Services.
Eligibility for the grant must be met; second semester grades may need to be checked as part of this review. If deemed eligible, depending on when you applied for the Grant and for financial aid, your award will be reflected in your financial aid package for the upcoming academic year.
