Running a DARS Report
A DARS (Degree Audit Reporting System) Report shows a student which courses they have taken as well as which courses they still need based on a particular major. Students can request their own DARS Reports in My UW Madison in the Student Center. Instructions for running a DARS can be found here (pdf).
Declare (add) or Cancel a business major, certificate or specialization (must be a BUS student)
If you want to change your business major, you should do so as soon as possible! Delaying a major selection can impact timely graduation.
You must complete the Major Declaration Form to declare, add or cancel business major, certificate and/or specialization. Only students with a BUS classification may utilize this form.
NOTE: Some business programs require a separate application.
Calculate Your GPA
Do you remember how to calculate your grade-point-average? This page will help.
Internship Credit
Students can earn one pass/fail credit for practical experience acquired through an internship position. To earn this credit, students must register for General Business 450 by following the procedures described on the General Business 450 page.
Changes in Schedule
Changes in course schedules may be made without an academic advisor's approval. A course may be added within the first two weeks of a semester; a course may be dropped during the first nine weeks of a semester. Be sure to check the current Timetable deadlines for the last day to drop courses or withdraw from the University without:
- Courses and grades of DR or W on transcripts
- Full or partial payment of the course
Students who are having trouble enrolling in courses should refer to our Enrollment Tips page for helpful suggestions and troubleshooting options.
Dropping Below Full Time
Students who are considering dropping below a full time course load should consider the effects it may have on a variety of situations. Full time is considered 12-18 credits during the Fall and Spring semesters. Before dropping below fulltime, review the Part Time Checklist to see how you may be affected.
Graduation
Students intending to graduate should consult our Graduating Students page for all the necessary information.
Date of Graduation
The School of Business will graduate a student at the end of the semester (spring, summer, or fall) in which all BBA degree and business major requirements are complete. Graduation will not be postponed for any incomplete School of Business certificate(s), specialization(s), or honors program(s); or additional certificate(s) or major(s) outside the School of Business.
Additional Major in L&S
Students admitted to the Business School may complete one major in Letters and Science in addition to their major in Business. These students make a request to graduate with a BBA (Bachelor’s in Business Administration) and have two majors. Example: BBA with majors in Marketing and Psychology. The additional major in L&S should be declared the semester the student is admitted to the Business School.
