Business Honors in the Liberal Arts
The BHLA program is under review and no longer accepting applications. When the review is complete,
more details and information will be listed here. Check back for updates.
The Business Honors in the Liberal Arts (BHLA) Program provides business students that have been admitted to the Honors in the Liberal Arts Program (HLA administered by the College of Letters and Sciences) an opportunity to continue with their liberal arts studies.
Business students are eligible to participate in the BHLA Program only if they have been admitted to the L&S HLA Program.
To complete the BHLA requirements, students must complete the degree requirements for an undergraduate business major; have a minimum grade-point average of 3.3; and complete 24 honors credits. These 24 credits shall be completed as such:
- Complete at least 15 credits in Honors courses in liberal studies. All honors courses in L&S will be accepted-automatic H, !, “green sheet”, etc. courses in all L&S departments.
- Complete at least nine credits in business courses.
These nine credits will be distributed as follows:
- Three credits for a business thesis. Past thesis copies are on reserve in the School of Business library for perusal. Thesis does not have to be in major.
- Three credits of weekly seminar. This seminar is offered each semester for one credit. BHLA students complete this seminar three times. The seminar meets once per week and focuses on current issues in business. For spring 2008, the seminar will meet 11:00 - 11:50 a.m. on Friday.
- Three credits of another business course with honors.
