Prospective High School Students

Thank you for your interest in the Wisconsin School of Business! Students currently in high school can apply for sophomore admission to our undergraduate business program after enrolling at UW-Madison and completing a minimum of 24 credits of college coursework.

Admission to our business program requires the following steps:

1. Admission to the University of Wisconsin-Madison

Students who wish to pursue a business major must first be admitted to UW-Madison. Please visit the UW-Madison Admissions website for complete information.

2. Eligibility to apply to the Wisconsin School of Business undergraduate program

UW-Madison freshmen must complete our new pre-business requirements in the College of Letters and Science before applying for sophomore admission:

  • Minimum 24 total credits of college coursework
  • Pre-business courses:
    • Communications Part A
    • Economics 101 or 111 (honors)
    • Psychology 202 or 281 (honors)
    • Math 211, 217, 221

NOTE: AP credits can fulfill any of the pre-business courses, but all applicants must take a minimum of 24 credits in residence before applying. There is no minimum GPA to apply.

Applicants for sophomore admission should apply in the second semester of their freshman year. Admission decisions will be based on a combination of academic performance in college coursework and non-academic strengths (i.e. leadership experience, campus involvement, writing and communication skills, motivation, initiative, work ethic, and other qualities) over time.
