FAQ - Rankings, Honors, and Opportunities

  • In fall 2004, U.S. News & World Report ranked UW-Madison 14th among all undergraduate business programs in the U.S., eighth among all public programs. U.S. News and World Report and others consistently rank the undergraduate program of the School of Business among the top 15 programs in the nation. Our programs in Real Estate and Insurance were ranked second in the country. Our Marketing and Management programs were both ranked ninth. Other School of Business programs listed as being among the best in their areas were Accounting (20th), Finance (13th), International Business (13th), Production/Operations (17th), Quantitative Analysis (13th), and Supply Chain/Logistics (13th)
  • During the past decade, the accounting program has been among the very best in the midst of all schools in the country, based on the percentage of students passing the CPA Exam. UW-Madison students placed among the best in the nation in terms of passing the CPA and Certified Management Accounting exams from 1992-2001. A 2002 graduate placed third in the nation on the May 2002 CPA exam.
  • The UW-Madison School of Business offers a superb business school physical facility, Grainger Hall. The building includes 30 classrooms, three high-tech auditoriums with multi-media and broadcast capabilities, eight computer labs, video conference facilities, and 30,000 square-foot library. A $40.5 million addition to Grainger Hall is scheduled to open in fall 2008.
  • Wisconsin is one of 28 universities awarded a national Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER).
  • Undergraduate Business students can take advantage of 15 semester-long study abroad programs and five summer programs. Almost half of our domestic undergraduate students who major in business participate in study-abroad programs.
  • The UW-Madison School of Business is a charter member of AACSB International-The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, which sets quality standards for business education. Only a handful of universities in Wisconsin have undergraduate business programs that are fully accredited by AACSB.
