TRANSFER INFORMATION SYSTEM
UW Colleges to UW-Madison Transfer Planning Guide
Wisconsin School of Business
This guide is subject to change and will be reviewed in October 2009. It is not a substitute for advising.
Students considering transferring from 2-year UW Colleges to UW-Madison are urged
to begin planning for the transfer early and to seek guidance from their
UW Colleges advisor.
Requirements for transfer students who began college BEFORE summer 2008
Requirements 1a through 1h apply to students who matriculated into a post-secondary isntitution prior to summer 2008 and do not fall under the Wisconsin School of Business' 10 semester rule.

apply for direct admission to the Wisconsin School of Business at the same time
they apply for admission to UW-Madison:

freshman
• Will complete a minimum of 54 credits in
the UW College system before transferring to UW-Madison

1b. Non-course Requirements
Because of enrollment limitations, not all students who are eligible for
admission to UW-Madison will be admitted to the Wisconsin School of Business. The
applicant’s GPA is a major factor in deciding admission but because the
qualifications of the applicant pool change from year to year a
“guaranteed” GPA for admission cannot be specified.
Admission decisions are based on: (1) GPA established in Pre-business
Requirements (see list below), (2) GPA in Business/Economics courses,
and (3) personal characteristics which contribute to the overall
strength and diversity of the Wisconsin School of Business student body. These
characteristics include, but are not limited to, strength of character,
ability to overcome adversity, leadership, and work experience.
1c. Required Pre-Business Courses Available at UW Colleges
Pre-business courses must be completed before students are eligible for
admission to the Wisconsin School of Business. The GPA earned in the pre-business
courses is one factor in determining admission to the Wisconsin School of Business.

equivalents. The courses apply to students who began taking college
courses Summer 2003 and thereafter. Prospective students should use TIS
