Clean Tech Thought Leader Series

Community Forum, open to the Madison community, is part of
Business, Environment & Social Responsibility Program

The Clean Tech Thought Leader Community Forum  introduces the Business, Environment & Social Responsibility (BESR) community to thought leaders working on the many front lines of clean technology, including technological fields (wind, solar, hydropower, biofuels, green construction, transportation) and non-technical fields (entrepreneurialism, investment, public policy, marketing and even job-hunting).  The first Community Forum was very well received in Spring, 2009 and focused on “Sustainability Meets Entrepreneurship”.

The forum series was motivated and inspired by Lt. Governor Barbara Lawton’s Green Economy Agenda, an agenda to empower smart individual and institutional action related to energy, water and climate change while strengthening Wisconsin’s competitive position in a global economy.  Initial support and encouragement was provided by the UW Office of Corporate Relations and Madison Gas & Electric (MG&E).

Through the forum series, we hope to provide information about cleantech, alternative energy and sustainability to the Madison Community. We hope to provide stories from practitioners in the field on challenges they’ve met, trends they see and the successes they’ve realized. Our goal is to inspire discussion, allow relationships to develop and further the understanding of what is happening around Wisconsin.

These Friday forums are held in Grainger Hall on the UW-Madison campus. Because lunch will be provided, only the first 50 people to register will be invited to attend.  Registration for each session opens approximately two weeks before the session.  The first fall session for 2009 will be held September 11, 2009.

The “Clean Tech Thought Leader Series” forums are free and open to the public. To nominate a future speaker, (including yourself) send an email and brief description to Tom Eggert.

Students registered for the class will also meet on the Friday before the first session and the Friday after the last session. Additional information about the class portion of the forum will be provided at that time.

The BESR forum is part of the Wiscontrepreneur Initiative, made possible in part by a grant from the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation and administered by the UW-Madison Office of Corporate Relations. Additional support is provided by the MGE Foundation.
