G. Steven Burrill Technology Business Plan Competition - The G. Steven Burrill Technology Business Plan Competition promotes entrepreneurial activities through the creation and presentation of technology-based business plans. The competition encourages cross-functional teams of UW-Madison students to develop and present technology-based business plans to a select panel of judges.
INSITE -
SMILES students participate in seminars with international speakers and
policymakers who shape technology development. SMILES faculty play
key roles in the unique cross-campus Initiative for Studies in Technology
Entrepreneurship (INSITE) that sponsors such sessions.
Master of Science in
Biotechnology - Our sister program, the M.S. in Biotechnology,
provides an alternative educational track for working individuals who seek
an educational experience balanced around basic science, policymaking, and
business.
Renk Agribusiness Institute -
The Renk Agribusiness Institute, originated with a gift from the Renk Family of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin to coordinate agribusiness teaching, research, and outreach activity on the UW-Madison campus. SMILES students in the AgBiz track may work with the Renk Institute on research studies and projects.
Weinert Center for Entrepreneurship - The Weinert Center is a resource for students interested in entrepreneurship. Students complete a concentration of courses in entrepreneurship and other related topics in preparation for roles as business owners and managers, venture capitalists, or consultants to smaller businesses.
Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF) - WARF has been creating economic value from great ideas for over 75 years for the benefit of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, its inventors, and society as a whole.
