Applied Projects
In the second semester of each year of the program, Strategic Human Resource Management students complete an applied project with an industry partner as part of the Strategic HRM Capstone course.
The applied project provides students with a chance to engage with business partners, thereby helping them to solve real world problems. These projects may cover a range of Strategic HRM issues, including talent management and retention, staffing, compensation and benefits, inclusion and workforce diversity, and employee relations. Through the applied projects, students gain experience in providing “deliverables” to organizations, and tying these deliverables to organizational goals and business needs. As the coordinator of the Capstone course, Professor Hunter works with local companies to develop the applied projects and welcomes input from students to develop their own project ideas.
Jed Kortens discusses his applied project with Laura Mravic, Human Resource Generalist, CUNA Mutual Group.
