Current Students

Students in Strategic Human Resource Management enter the program from various work disciplines and academic backgrounds.  They share the common goal to graduate with the in-depth expertise and knowledge required for specialized work in human resources.

              

   

  Brian Borkovec

Brian came to the Strategic Human Resource Management MBA Program with professional work experience in several fields. After earning his bachelor's degree in English from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, Brian worked for three years in athletic media relations, holding positions at Bradley University and UW-Madison.  Seeking international experience, he shifted into the field of teaching where he spent two years teaching English as a Foreign Language in Prague, Czech Republic. Most recently Brian served for four years as Instruction Program Director for the UW Hoofer Sailing Club at the Wisconsin Union. It is through this experience that he became familiar with the Wisconsin MBA and the specialization in Strategic HRM.

  April West

April West is a first year student specializing in Strategic Human Resource Management.  She earned her bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences with an emphasis in Mathematics from the University of Nevada, Reno.  After graduation, April spent four years at Watson Wyatt where she worked as an Actuarial Analyst in their pension consulting practice.  She then spent two years developing strategic plans and financial solutions for environmental liabilities at a boutique strategy consulting firm.  Prior to being admitted to the Wisconsin MBA, she served two years in Armenia with the United States Peace Corps as a Business and Community Development volunteer.

“I was first attracted to the Wisconsin MBA because of the unique and focused specializations.  I was looking for a program which draws likeminded individuals and would cater to my specialized interests in Strategic HRM.  Wisconsin was it.”

 

Jiajia (Audrey) Chen

Audrey joins the Strategic Human Resource Management MBA Program with five years of experience in the executive search industry.  After earning her bachelor of arts in Sociology from Sun Yat-sen University, China, she worked as a recruiter for Cost-Killer Management Consulting Company.  Until most recently, Audrey held the title of Recruitment Consultant for Link Management Consulting Company with a focus on the fast moving consumer goods industry, manufacturing industry and electrical & electronics industry.  Her client base included Wrigley, Motorola, Kimberly Clark, Pepsi, and Rubbermaid.

"I joined the Wisconsin MBA so that I could concentrate on advanced study in Strategic Human Resource Management and cross-cultural communication.  After graduation, I look forward to a career as an HR Leader in an organization that enables me to combine my skills and interests in HR consulting and international exposure."

 

Reinaldo Medina

Reinaldo Medina is a first year Strategic HRM MBA student.  He earned bachelor’s degrees in Management and Psychology as well as a Master of Arts degree in International Business from the University of Florida.  After graduation, he worked for UBS International as a Registered Client Service Associate in private wealth management.  Prior to joining the MBA, he worked as a teacher for Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions.  He looks to join an organization that will allow him to use his business experience and education as an HR specialist.

Chris Sutter is a first year student in the Strategic Human Resource Management Program.   He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in Real Estate and Urban Land Economics.  Prior to entering the Wisconsin MBA, Chris worked for TJMaxx as a store manager and gained valuable leadership experience in business operations and human resources.  After graduation in 2010, he looks to capitalize on his leadership experience as a Human Resources Professional.
