Alumni

In May 2006, the career specialization in Strategic Human Resource Management celebrated the graduation of its inaugural class.  However, the history of the program dates back even further - to its roots in the Industrial Relations Institute of the University of Wisconsin-Madison as well as in the General Management MBA. Program alumni work in leading firms that are noteworthy especially for their commitment to a strategic perspective in HR.

"The SHRM Program promotes and encourages high-level thinking by stressing the strategic aspect of Human Resources.  Being successful in HR requires much more than learning the basics of recruiting, compensation, and labor relations.  The SHRM Program not only recognizes this, but also demands its student understand how Human Resources decisions affect the bottom line."

“I would not have been selected for my job, nor would I be successful, without the Strategic HRM  Program.  I learned invaluable skills and have been lucky enough to be able to apply them within the context of my prior career experience in Marketing.  Aside from the technical HR components, the strategy layer has enabled me to guide an organization at a more senior, strategic level, which I do not believe I could have gotten anywhere else.  This program is wonderful!”
