Strategic Human Resource Management - Program Overview
The goal of the career specialization in Strategic Human
Resource Management is to develop managers and professionals who can
contribute to an organization’s success by helping it align its people
management and employee relations strategies with the goals and strategy of
the organization.
The program provides students with the breadth to work as human resources
generalists and consultants as well as the in-depth expertise needed for
more specialized roles in human resources.
Our program begins with the MBA core course curriculum,
which provides a broad grounding in the fundamental areas of business. We
then build on this general foundation by adding specialized knowledge and
competencies in the strategic management of human capital, including
strategic human resources, compensation, staffing, employee and labor
relations, managerial consulting and negotiation. Emphasis is placed on
strategic thinking, including the importance of quantifying the impact of HR
decisions on business performance.
The organizations that interact with faculty and students and that recruit
our graduates are leaders in their industries. These organizations provide
outstanding opportunities for students in terms of internships, employment,
classroom interaction and project experiences.
