Research Services:
UW-Madison ranks as one of the most prolific research universities in the world, placing third among American public universities for research expenditures. The Wisconsin School of Business contributes to this mission in important ways, and its faculty are ranked highly in surveys of research productivity. Wisconsin School of Business faculty have received funding from most of the major federal funding agencies, including PHS, NSF, EPA, DoEd, NASA and others.
To assist faculty in obtaining research support from extramural sponsors, the following services are offered.
Search for Funding Opportunities – UW Madison subscribes to several funding opportunities databases. Prospective researchers are encouraged to utilize SPIN, the Sponsored Programs Information Network. For assistance in identifying sources to support your work, download this handout on SPIN.
Proposal Development – From conceptualization to the final proposal, faculty are provided with an array of services, including editorial assistance.
Budget Development – Creating an appropriate budget for your project is an important, yet challenging task. Faculty are assisted in this process.
Proposal Submission – All proposals for extramural support must be approved by theDean’s Office, which will submit the proposal on your behalf.
Editorial Services - Editorial services to tenured and tenure-track faculty writing scholarly articles and grant proposal are available for a fee. Turnaround time for having papers edited is two to three weeks. The Wisconsin School of Business locates experienced freelance editors to provide copy editing services. To make use of the service, provide both a digital version of the paper (Word is preferred) and a hard copy of the paper to Belle Heberling bheberling@bus.wisc.edu,
3115 Grainger Hall. The hard copy will be returned to the faculty member's mailbox with suggested edits marked.
