The Government’s Role in Providing Financial Advice

Brian Hellmer, director of the Stephen L. Hawk Center for Applied Security Analysis, reacts to the new investor.gov website sponsored by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in SmartMoney magazine.

According to Hellmer, the website could help investors avoid mistakes and better understand the risks and costs of their investments.  “A lot of people even in their 40s or 50s who have been investing for a while wouldn’t necessarily know what red flags to look for when they talk to investment advisers,” says Hellmer.

Applied Security Analysis MBA Student Predicts Farm-related Companies Will Perform Strongly

Nathan Henderson, who is pursuing an MBA in the Applied Security Analysis Program of the Wisconsin School of Business, was interviewed in Kathleen Gallagher’s Investment Trends column in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Henderson shared his views that even if the economy stays weak, “agriculture will be pretty stable—people need to eat.”

Wisconsin to Partner with CFA Institute

The highly regarded Applied Security Analysis program of the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Business has been named a CFA Program Partner by the CFA Institute. Only 16 business schools in the world and three in the United States have received this designation.
