Gates Foundation Minority Scholarship Information on MOLIS
The Gates Millennium Scholars Program, administered by the United Negro College Fund (UNCF), will provide scholarships and fellowships for outstanding low-income African-American, Native American, Hispanic American, and Asian American students to attend the undergraduate and graduate institutions of their choice. The program offers scholarships starting with the 2000-2001 academic year.
Information on the Gates Millennium Scholarship Program is available from the Minority On-Line Information Service (MOLIS) website. Click on the "Notices/News" button on the left column and then choose the "Gates Millennium Scholars Program" from the list of stories. Also from the main MOLIS page at you can click on "Scholarships" to search for scholarships and fellowships for yourself, your students, or family members.
MOLIS provides information about the research and educational capabilities of historically Black Colleges and Universities, Hispanic Serving Institutions, Predominantly Black Colleges, Tribal Colleges, and other minority-serving institutions. MOLIS is supported by key federal agencies under cooperative agreements from the Department of Energy and Department of Defense.

The Indian Fellowship Program offers renewable awards ranging from $800 to $39,000 but averaging $13,000 each. Eligible are American Indians or Alaskan Native graduate students at accredited U.S. institutions; candidates must have strong financial need and strong academic records.

The Foundation offers $1000 scholarship awards for each academic year, beginning with the fall semester, to female doctoral students pursuing degrees in approved courses of study in the fields of business and/or economics. Applicants must have completed at least one semester of college-level study in the U.S. The number of available scholarships is determined by the Board of Directors each year. For the past two years, three $1000 annual scholarships have been given. The criteria for selection are scholastic achievement, leadership potential, motivation, and financial need. Awards range from $2300 to $13,000 and average $5000 per year.
