I worked with the Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) department to develop an economic database. The database consists of general economic data such as GDP, CPI, etc. for the U.S. and other major economies that are key indicators about the overall health of the global economy. In addition, I collected information on indicators specific to each of the business units, i.e. commodity prices, auto production/sales, Chiller, HVAC shipments, etc. This database is updated and summarized monthly in a PowerPoint presentation and is distributed to the senior executive team and board of directors. I also worked with the Corporate FP&A department to develop a database of peer financial information. This included the P/E ratio, historical Free Cash Flow, Debt/Equity Ratio, etc. for the consolidated companies as well as sales, EBIT, etc. for the individual business segments in which Johnson Controls (JCI) directly competes. I also put together the financial statements for one of JCI's pension plans and one of their Retiree Life and Health Plans. This involved compiling information from actuarial reports, claims reports, the general ledger, etc. and summarizing them in an acceptable format. These reports then went to JCI's auditors for review. I also wrote a corporate accounting policy on restructuring. This policy included fixed asset lives as well as others to be determined. |
