Carlos Olivares earned his bachelor’s of science in mechanical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. Upon graduating, he joined Ford Motor Company as a project leader for selecting, purchasing and installing new manufacturing equipment. In his role, he developed technical validation procedures, evaluated competitive bids, and launched new automotive components into mass-production. This role enabled him to interact with business planners, financial analysts and engineers.  Through seven years of restructuring, he accepted broadening roles and responsibilities, and managed several multimillion dollar projects from design through product launch. He minimized investment for new AC automotive compressors, expanded equipment supply base and introduced new manufacturing technologies.  Through this experience, Carlos has developed an interest in corporate finance. This fall, Carlos will study finance in the Nicholas Center for Corporate Finance and Investment Banking at the Wisconsin School of Business. Upon graduation, he intends to join a leading company where he can leverage his MBA and project management skills in business development, restructuring, mergers and acquisitions.
