Melinda (Mindy) Mount

Microsoft

Mindy is the Chief Financial Officer of the Entertainment and Device division of Microsoft.  The Entertainment and Devices division is composed of four global businesses: the Entertainment Business, which is charged with bringing new focus to Microsoft’s digital entertainment efforts in music, TV and video; the Interactive Entertainment Business, which includes both the Xbox® and Games for Windows® businesses; the Consumer Productivity Experiences Business, which includes the mice and keyboards business, the Macintosh Business Unit, and consumer productivity applications including Encarta®, Money and Digital Image Suite; and the Mobile and Embedded Business, which develops, markets and drives sales of Windows Mobile®-based devices from a variety of original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) through operators and focuses on the embedded market for Windows CE, Windows XP Embedded and the Automotive Business Unit.  This division is also responsible for the global retail sales of all Microsoft software products.

Prior to joining Microsoft,  Mindy was working in London as the Executive Vice President and Co-Managing Director of AOL UK.  While at AOL UK she was responsible for advertising, programming, strategy, business development, and finance.  During her tenure, she led the business from significant annual losses to profitability through aggressive cost management, renegotiation of key network agreements and pricing adjustments.  She also developed new businesses such as the AOL Music Channel and AOL over the Sky platform and negotiated key agreements such as AOL’s exclusive distribution through the UK’s largest consumer electronics retailer and broadband access agreements with the major cable companies.   Shortly after she returned to the US from her UK assignment, she resigned from AOL and has been traveling, and pursuing personal interests.

Prior to AOL UK, Mindy was the Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Development at Time Warner where she was responsible for corporate strategy, business planning, mergers and acquisitions, industry and competitive analysis and the development of long-term financial strategies. While at Time Warner she developed the company’s first business planning process, led the development of the Company’s first cross-divisional strategies and acted as banker for the acquisition of properties such as Turner Broadcasting and IPC Media plc, the sale of Six Flags theme parks and the initial public offering of Time Warner Telecom.

Before joining Time Warner, Mindy was Vice President in the Mergers and Acquisitions department at Morgan Stanley & Co.  She received an MBA from the Harvard Graduate School of Business and a BBA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  Mindy is on the Board of Directors for the University of Wisconsin Foundation and serves as an advisor to the students in the University of Wisconsin-Madison's Nicholas Center for Corporate Finance and Investment Banking..  In her spare time, Mindy likes to hike, bike and play golf and is an avid reader.
