How did you find out about the Nicholas Center?
I initially learned about the program form the business school's web site. I then attended an MBA forum where I spoke with the Admissions Director to learn about different concentrations and how they are organized in the MBA program. I also talked to Cindie Adams at the interview about how my career goals align with the Nicholas offerings.

Why did you choose to come to the Wisconsin MBA's Nicholas Center?
There are several reasons; the fact that the Wisconsin MBA has a program dedicated specifically to corporate finance was the most dominant. I was looking for a small program in a large university so that I get to know everyone in the program, yet also take advantage of a big school for fun activities. Finally, I had dinner with a Nicholas student when I came to visit Madison, which was a great opportunity for me to really learn about the program from the perspective of someone going through it. That experience convinced me that the Wisconsin MBA program and Nicholas environment would be a good fit for me and support my career goals.
What are your career objectives?
What draws me to pursue a career in corporate finance is that it takes the long-term view of what makes a company successful and offers many opportunities to contribute. Initially, I would like to join a firm as a financial analyst, which would allow me to solidify my skills as they relate to the overall picture. I am interested in employee benefits management and would like to pursue that avenue later in my career. Ultimately, I envision working in the treasury department where I can help shape the financial goals of the company.
What have you found most surprising about coming to Madison?
I worried too much about whether I could mesh well with and hold my own against other Nicholas students. It was intimidating to read everyone's bios and see some of the great experience my peers had. Of course, once I got here I learned that I wasn't the only one thinking this way. We can laugh about it now, but everyone was equally nervous. Our program is a pretty close group and we take advantage of the varied experiences and backgrounds.
What are you looking for in your internship?
I was looking for a company that does its own development and manufacturing of consumer products and was fortunate to land an internship with 3M. 3M is a great opportunity and will allow me to experience many facets of corporate finance. People there have been very supportive and welcoming and I look forward to working with them this summer.
