How did you find out about the Nicholas Center?
I learned about Nicholas through various research that I did. I remember reading an article about how UW-Madison revamped their MBA programs to focus on specializations versus a general business MBA. Since I knew that I wanted to continue my career in corporate finance, I began to read more about UW-Madison and knew that it was the place for me.
Why did you choose to come to UW-Madison and the Nicholas program?
I chose to come to Wisconsin because of the Nicholas program. I am someone who learns best by applying what I learn and I was very excited when I read about the consulting projects in the second year. I knew this would give me the chance to not only apply what I learned in the classroom but also deal with issues that go beyond the tools and skills I acquire in the classroom.
What are your career objectives?
Working with corporate strategy, both developing the strategy and analyzing the potential financial impact of the direction the corporation chooses to go.
What have you found most surprising about Madison?
I grew up about 45 minutes from Madison so I was very familiar with both the university and the city of Madison.
What is your favorite thing about Madison?
Besides living by two lakes, every Saturday from spring until fall I enjoy going to the great farmers' market on the Capitol Square. I also enjoy the many outdoor activities in Madison like walking around the lake and biking on the miles of trails, which go through all areas of the city.
What were you looking for in your internship?
I was looking for an opportunity to use what I have learned in my first semester classes and apply it to on-the-job situations with a great company.
What are you most looking forward to in your summer internship at 3M?
3M is a great company and I am extremely excited to have the chance to spend the summer working there. I have never worked with consumer products before, so this will be a great opportunity to learn more about how that type of business is run, especially from one of the leaders in the market.
