Malawi Trip
On January 6, 2006, two Nicholas students, John Bradley and Patrick Hammes, met with the CEO of the Malawi Stock Exchange to discuss the capital market and regulatory environment in Malawi, Africa. They also had the opportunity to observe actual trading. The visit was part of the 2006 MBA Intersession Study Tour program which John and Patrick co-led with the assistance of the former Ambassador of Malawi to the United States.

Nicholas Students Travel to New York City
Nicholas Team travels to New York City to deliver their presentation to Deutsche Bank |
A debt of gratitude is owed to Nicholas board member, Doug Baird, who sponsored an all-access tour of the New York Stock Exchange trading floor for our MBA students, faculty and undergraduate assistants during the March 23rd trading session. Baird, a former Managing Director at Deutsche Bank Securities, organized the tour in conjunction with the final presentation the team of Nicholas students were giving to Deutsche Bank. A second team of students, those presenting to J.C. Flowers & Co., were also invited to attend.
Students were given the rare opportunity to tour the exchange floor with Deutsche Bank traders and floor brokers replete with thorough explanations of the processes and mechanics of the auction system. Since the events of September 11th, tours of the NYSE have been discontinued. With the help of Mr. Baird, Nicholas students were able to weave from one trading crowd to another, monitor numerous securities transactions and take in the bustling and often frenzied environment of 11 Wall Street.
