Jonathan Eckhardt Named a Kauffman Fellow in Entrepreneurial Research
Jonathan Eckhardt, an assistant professor in Management and Human Resources at the Wisconsin School of Business, is one of five individuals nationally to be selected for a $50,000 Kauffman Junior Faculty Fellowship in Entrepreneurship Research. The program recognizes junior faculty who are beginning to establish a record of scholarship and exhibit the potential to make significant contributions to the body of research in the field of entrepreneurship.
Eckhardt's ongoing research involves various aspects of the entrepreneurial process, including firm formation, venture finance, initial public offerings, the relationship between public innovation and commercial entrepreneurship, and the role of information in entrepreneurship. Much of his research involves the study of the formation of commercial software markets for early handheld computing platforms, including the Palm Handheld Computer.
Eckhardt also has played a major role in helping create an undergraduate entrepreneurship program at the Wisconsin School of Business. He serves as a faculty fellow for UW-Madison’s new undergraduate entrepreneurship learning community.
The Kauffman Foundation is the world's largest foundation devoted to entrepreneurship. Its Junior Faculty Fellowship in Entrepreneurship Research is intended to “help launch a cohort of world-class scholars” and lay a foundation for future scientific advancement.
