Wisconsin School of Business marketing faculty ranked second in the nation in terms of articles published in major journals, according to a recent study. “A backward glance of who and what marketing scholars have been researching,1977 – 2002,” examined publications from four marketing journals over a 25-year period to determine the authors and institutions that had the most published articles and which topics most frequently appeared. The study was presented at the 2008 annual conference of the Academy of Marketing Science.
The study showed the Wisconsin School of Business as ranked highly in terms of representation in the individual journals. The school ranked second in the Journal of Marketing Research, third in the Journal of Consumer Research and sixth in the Journal of Marketing, based on the number of published articles in each journal.
Across all four journals during the 25-year span, the business school had a total of 185 publications, second only to the University of Pennsylvania.
A prior study also noted the strength of research by marketing faculty at the Wisconsin School of Business. In that study, which covered 1996 to 2006, the school’s marketing faculty were ranked first in the nation for research productivity in terms of the number of articles published in top-tier journals in their field.
