The Wisconsin Real Estate program is a global leader in real estate education and research. Its MBA program is ranked third in the nation and its undergraduate program fourth by U.S. News and World Report.

The MBA career specialization in Real Estate and Urban Land Economics prepares students for high-level managerial positions in the real estate industry. The program delivers a multi-disciplinary approach to real estate with a focus on development, finance, investment, valuation, law and the regulatory environment, and urban land economics. The curriculum includes hands-on projects, and students are required to participate in at least one field trip abroad to learn about real estate in other countries and cultures. Students are rigorously trained in real estate fundamentals and acquire skills in critical thinking, leadership and entrepreneurial management. Internships are also encouraged after the first year of coursework. Scholarships and fellowships are available to qualified students, along with occasional opportunities to work on consulting projects with faculty.

International courses and field trips allow students to gain intensive exposure to foreign real estate markets and institutions. Lasting from several days to two weeks or more, recent visits have been made to Eastern and Western Europe, South America and Asia. A special program, the Applied Real Estate Securities Analysis Program is a unique track within the MBA program in real estate that allows student to actively manage a portfolio REITs and real estate operating companies.

Faculty members of the Real Estate department are among the most productive and influential in higher education. In addition to their academic work, faculty are in touch with cutting-edge, real-world issues as consultants to businesses, governments and international organizations.

Graduates of the real estate program are noted for their success in the real estate industry and loyalty to their alma mater. The Wisconsin Real Estate Association (REEAA), a close-knit organization made up of more than 1,600 alumni and affiliates, is the envy of the industry.

The undergraduate program in real estate provides concentrated course work in all aspects of the real estate enterprise. The program is nationally renowned for its ability to develop real estate professionals with superb analytical skills. In spring 2005, a team of undergraduate real estate students from UW-Madison took second place in a national undergraduate real estate competition.

The PhD Program in real estate prepares individuals for careers in research and teaching at the university level.
