Real Estate Undergraduates Take Second in National Competition

A team of undergraduate real estate students from UW-Madison took second place in the first-ever national undergraduate real estate competition held at the University of Southern Californias Lusk Center for Real Estate.
Wisconsin undergraduates Ross Bernstein, Matt Denis, Laura Knepper, Justin Kraft, Justin Nelson and Eric Schultz presented the second-place prize-winning case in competition with four other top real estate schools during the week of April 4. Rod Matthews, senior lecturer in the UW-Madison School of Business, was the team advisor.
Wisconsin students, who were selected on the basis of their presentation on an in-class case study of the Hilldale shopping mall in Madison, competed at USC on a case study of a modified Los Angeles office complex. The University of Texas-Austin took first place, the University of Colorado won third, followed by Wharton and USC
Funding to support the Wisconsin students in the competition was provided
by Dennis A. Harder of Joseph Freed and Associates LLC, owner of
Hilldale, and by David Kim of The Bascom Group. Team prizes for the
competition were provided by Wells Fargo.
