Building Exellence
Students enrolled in the Wisconsin MBA in fall 2008 will enter a brand new, state-of-the-art facility designed to foster interaction and collaboration.
A $40.5 million addition to Grainger Hall, the home of the Wisconsin School of Business at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, opens in fall 2008. The four-story addition is designed with the unique career specialization model of the Wisconsin MBA ever in mind. Each MBA career specialization has dedicated space, allowing the networking, team meetings and other important interactions that are at the heart of the Wisconsin MBA.
The addition combines the latest technology with a warm and welcoming environment.
The addition includes:
- 10 modern classrooms
- Extensive breakout/meeting rooms to facilitate team projects
- Dedicated space for each career specialization, including significant student workspace.
- Student wardrobe lockers for personal storage, along with changing rooms and shower facilities
- MBA Career Center with interview rooms and recruiter lounge
- MBA Program Office for student admissions and advising
- Student recreation lounge for informal networking
- Office space for more than 30 active MBA student organizations
- Office and lounge space for alumni and friends who are visiting, lecturing or recruiting at the School of Business
- Daily dining facility that seats 200 and a convenient all-day coffee shop
Clearly, any MBA program is much more than its physical facility, but the caliber of a program’s students and faculty should be reflected in the quality of its facility. As of fall 2008, the Wisconsin MBA will have a home as outstanding as its program and its people.
Going Green
The Grainger Hall addition is designed to meet or exceed today’s standards for sustainability. Special features include: no net gain in storm-water runoff, high-efficiency building systems, use of recycled materials and incorporation of daylight into more than 90 percent of the new space.
In the Mix

The Plenary Room is a comfortable, informal space where Wisconsin MBA students can congregate.
Located on the first floor, during the day the Plenary Room is designed to be a comfortable, informal space where MBA students can study, meet with their project teams or simply relax by themselves
or with classmates.
On a typical day, Wisconsin MBAs will be seen grabbing a cup of coffee from the adjacent coffee shop and sinking into one of the room’s many comfortable chairs. Some will choose to fire up their laptops to gain a few valuable extra minutes of studying before their next class. Particularly lucky ones will find a seat next to the massive fireplace that serves as the room’s focal point.
In the evening, the Plenary Room is a premium location for special events such as outside speakers brought to campus by student organizations; the room can seat more than 265 and accommodate schoolwide social events such as the MBA Graduation Celebration.
