Connect with Top Executives
Another strength of our focused approach is the invaluable resource provided by the more than 300 executives who serve on our many specialized advisory boards.

The insights and connections advisory board members provide in specialized fields are difficult to replicate in a general MBA program. For example, the A.C. Nielsen Center for Marketing Research’s external advisory board is made up of executives from leading firms involved in marketing, such as General Mills and Hallmark Cards.
Advisory board members often assist with internships, serve as guest speakers, provide opportunities for applied projects, share news of permanent openings and arrange on-site visits to their firms. The close ties our students develop to executives in their specialized fields are a unique benefit of the Wisconsin MBA.
Learn from the Best

Steve Bennet, CEO of Intuit, a Wisconsin MBA alum, shared lessons from his career with students.
What’s it like to launch a high-tech company in your twenties? What tradeoffs do CEOs face between ethical issues and financial performance? MBA students have regular first-hand exposure to leading executives who share their experiences.
The M. Keith Weikel Executive Leadership Speaker Series provides Wisconsin MBA students the opportunity to interact with and learn from successful business leaders in a variety of fields. Speakers are top executives, many of them Wisconsin School of Business alumni, from leading companies including: Yahoo!, Oscar Mayer Foods Corp., W.W. Grainger, Inc., Intuit, Citigroup, Kimberly-Clark and Sun Microsystems.
Recent speakers include:
- Steve Bennett, President and CEO of Intuit
- Bo Ryan, Badgers Basketball Coach
- Ted Kellner, Chairman and CEO, Fiduciary Management Inc,
- Joe Laymon, Group VP, Ford Motor Company
- Paul Shain, President and CEO, Berbee Information Networks Corp.
- Dr. M. Keith Weikel, Senior Executive VP and COO, HCR Manor Care Inc.
Students also have the opportunity to meet twice a year with top executives who serve on the Dean’s Advisory Board.
Still another way Wisconsin MBA students gain exposure to executives, is though the many separate advisory boards involved with career specializations. Members of these industry-specific boards act as mentors, share industry best practices and provide an invaluable network to students.
Our alumni:
