Connect with Your Community
Wisconsin MBA students give back to their community in many ways. They’ve raised money for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, they’ve volunteered their time to be Big Brothers and Big Sisters to Madison-area youth, they’ve collected donations for local food drives. Many students choose to do special community projects through their student organizations. Others volunteer their time individually.
Students in the Graduate Business Association (GBA) also organize the School of Business Golf Outing. The annual event raises money for Junior Achievement and is a relaxed way for students to build close ties with alumni. The event is held each fall on the award-winning University Ridge golf course, designed by renowned architect, Robert Trent Jones, Jr. Shown are Wisconsin MBA students Lauren Kren, Class of 2006 and Joel Bartis, Class of 2006, with Lynn Keel, MBA ’81, vice president of IPL Global Business, Havi Global Solutions.
Connect with Other Students
Community is important to Wisconsin MBA students. Active student organizations play a key role in the life of the school. They offer opportunities for learning, leadership and networking.
The Graduate Business Association, which represents all graduate business students, coordinates weekly social events, an annual spring ball, dozens of talks by business leaders, community service projects, and the Wisconsin School of Business Golf Outing. It serves as a primary voice in advancing the interests of graduate students within the School of Business.
The Joint Venture Club provides an invaluable social network for MBA students and their families. In ways large and small, it offers support to make the transition to Madison as easy as possible. The club offers social events for students and their families. When the student is involved in academic activities, the club sponsors activities geared toward the student’s family or partner.
Student Organizations

Wisconsin MBA students and faculty took the "Polar Plunge" to raise money for Special Olympics.
In addition to GBA and the Joint Venture Club, there are many other student organizations to meet the various needs and interests of graduate students.
Net Impact, Graduate Marketing Network, Graduate Women in Business and Arts Administration Association are just a few of almost two dozen specialized business student organizations providing additional opportunities for learning, leadership and networking.
