Bachelor's Degree/Transcripts
A bachelor's degree from an approved (accredited) institution. International applicants must have a degree comparable to an approved U.S. bachelor's degree. 2 Years Work Experience
A minimum of two years of professional work experience. However, exceptional candidates with limited professional work experience and a strong part-time or internship experience will be considered.
GMAT
A Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) score taken within the past five years. Please direct the testing service to forward your test results to the University of Wisconsin-Madison (institution code: 79K-2S-72). The GMAT is required for applicants to all graduate business programs. The test must have been taken within five years of the term for which you are applying. Admissions Interview
Formal admissions interviews will be required for all applications for Fall 2010 or later. Candidates who wish to schedule an interview can do so during our open interview time in the fall. Interviews need not be scheduled before an applicant submits their application, but will need to be done before a final admission decision is made. Recommendation Letters
Select recommenders that are qualified to evaluate your potential as a business leader or for management. They should have a good understanding of your abilities along with solid examples of your accomplishments. These individuals may include current or past supervisors or managers, clients or vendors, or individuals from volunteer or community organizations in which you are involved. The online application will allow you to identify each of your recommeders and email them a link to the recommendation form. Recommendation letters can also be written free form and submitted via the application link or be emailed to mba@bus.wisc.edu.
International Students - TOEFL, IELTS, or Pearson Test of English
A Test of English as a Foreign Language Applicants whose native language is not English or whose undergraduate instruction was not in English must complete either the Internet-based (100 or higher) or paper-based (600 or higher) TOEFL. International Students - Financial Resources
Evidence of adequate financial resources for the anticipated duration of the program for international applicants. This information is required for visa documentation by the federal government and is only required upon admission to the Wisconsin MBA Program. Prerequisite Courses
There are no School of Business prerequisite courses for students in the MBA program. However, individual career specializations may have courses they will recommend you complete prior to beginning the program. They will communicate with you to let you know what classes you should take once you have been admitted to the program.
If you would like to take a course prior to starting your MBA program, we suggest that you consider taking a statistics and/or an economics course. Both courses have proven to be beneficial to incoming students in helping them gain the necessary knowledge to begin the program.
Computer Literacy Requirement
All master's students must possess knowledge of spreadsheet and presentation software. The important focus is on usable technical/computing skills such as: document layout, graphics insertion, and table development; spreadsheet functions such as summing, counting, graphing, and forecasting; and presentation development including graphics and on-line delivery.
