Lori A Strelow

Graphic Designer

Lori StrelowGraphic Designer Lori Strelow has varied and extensive experience in publication design, particularly in marketing higher education. She combines a thorough understanding of design aesthetics with in-depth knowledge of technical issues in graphic design.

Lori has an M.A. in Art from the University of Wisconsin-Madison Art Department, where she has been a lecturer, teaching Introduction to Typography and Graphic Design.  She also holds a B.A.  in  Journalism/Advertising from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is well versed in all major graphic design software programs, including: InDesign, QuarkXPress, Photoshop and Illustrator. 

Lori designs and produces scores of publications annually for the business school and its units, working closely with Communications Director Lari Fanlund.  She coordinates photo shoots on behalf of clients within the School of Business and art directs major photo assignments on behalf of business school publications.

Lori led the redesign effort of UPDATE, the alumni magazine for Wisconsin Business Alumni, which was honored by the American Marketing Association’s Madison chapter. She designed the viewbook for the full-time Wisconsin MBA program, which won a bronze medal in a national competition for admissions marketing materials. She routinely shares her design expertise to benefit the School of Business in other ways as well. For example, the master’s show for her M.A. degree was exhibited in the School of Business library and she has served on the design committee involved in selecting art for the addition to Grainger Hall.

Prior to joining the School of Business in 2000, Lori was the graphic designer and print manager for University of Wisconsin Colleges, designing and overseeing production of printed materials for each of the 13 two-year campuses in the UW System and its central administration. Prior to beginning her work in higher education, Lori held production management and editorial positions with a variety of newspapers and trade publications based in Chicago and neighboring suburbs.

 Lori has extensive freelance design experience. As a design consultant, she has produced materials for many commercial clients, including Organic Valley, Integrated Medical Solutions, PETLinQ  and Alliance Imaging.
