IS Speaker Series

MBA students in the IS program have the opportunity to learn from industry executives like John Morgridge, chairman of CISCO Systems.
The Information System Program brings industry leaders directly into the classroom. Through the IS Speaker Series, each IS course is designed to accommodate at least two to three industry experts to complement and re-enforce coursework. The combination of industry and academics is a powerful motivator and enriches all students involved.
In March 2003, the Information Systems program and Association of Information Systems Professionals kicked off the first IS Speaker Series event by hosting a debate between representatives of Sun Microsystems and Microsoft on the future of XML-based web services. The UW-Madison School of Business was one of only a handful of schools in the nation chosen to host the debate. The debate featured Joseph Williams of Sun Professional Services and Gerry Miller, Microsoft's chief technology officer for the U.S. Central Region.
