Lancaster University, founded in 1964, is ranked among the top ten teaching and research universities in the United Kingdom, and its Management School is one of the most highly regarded in the UK.  In addition to its proximity to a wide range of outdoor activities, Lancaster is within three hours of London, Edinburgh and Dublin. 

The campus, with academic, residence, athletic and social facilities in one convenient location, is in the countryside three miles outside Lancaster, with a view extending to the nearby sea.  Lancaster's campus setting fosters a wide variety of extra-curricular activities in which international students are enthusiastic and welcome participants. 

Courses

Business and non-business classes are available.  All courses are worth 4 credits.  Receive UW residence credits and grades.

Lancaster limits you to three 4-credit courses during the semester.  To earn credit for an additional 4-credit non-business course, attend a pre-session non-business course. Pre-session courses have not yet been equated.  Contact International Programs.

Costs and scholarships

The following are estimates only. Costs are subject to change.  Estimates noted with an asterisk were calculated based on an exchange rate of $1 = 0.59 British pounds, but it is falling and $ costs may rise significantly. Check xe.com for up-to-the-minute conversion rates.

Estimates based on 2009/2010 academic year.  Fall is approximately three months, spring is approximately six months. 

UW tuition: Full-time

UW program fee: $350

UW-mandated health insurance: $37/full month, no partials i.e. (March 15 - May 30 is 3 months)

Housing: $1900 (fall), $3,200 (spring)*

Meals: $900 (fall), $1,800 (spring)*

Miscellaneous (Internet, bedding, sports, discount card): $200

Social activities fee:$40

Books: $270*

Airfare: (to Manchester) $1030 (estimate)

Optional pre-session course and room (fall only): $3300 plus estimated $350 for meals

Entertainment and vacation travel vary widely, plan for a four week break in spring

Applying

There are generally 8 students admitted per year (for fall and/or spring). As there are limited spaces, application to this program does not guarantee admission.  Minimum requirements are a 3.0 GPA, 54 credits earned by the time you go abroad and 9 credits business/economics.

Applications are due March 1st of the previous academic year.  If space for spring semester opens, the application process will re-open with a deadline of October 1st.   Attend an information session, held in February and September.  Information session dates, program availability and applications are available on the application website.
