Australia is a continent that beckons with tales of adventure, unique animals, and a vigorous Aboriginal culture as well as the industry and friendliness of the immigrant population. Sydney is the capital city of the southeastern state of New South Wales, full of exuberance and good cheer, famous for its harbor skyline, fine beaches and hospitality. Founded in 1788, Sydney is the birthplace of modern Australia and remains a center for arts, culture, commerce, and education. The CIEE program includes excursions both into the city and to the natural areas along the coast.
Macquarie University, established in 1964 to explore bold new teaching and research methods with the latest in technology, is consistently ranked among the top ten schools in Australia for research and discovery grants, and top five in converting them into commercial ventures. The CIEE program at Macquarie includes unpaid internships for credit with local businesses and organizations
