Buenos Aires: Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE)
CIEE Buenos Aires
Fall: Mid July - late December
Spring: Mid February – mid July
Undergraduate Affiliated Program
The Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) study center in Buenos Aires offers UW students the chance to experience study abroad in the romantic capital of Argentina. Buenos Aires stretches along the Rio de la Plata with a multinational population of 13 million. These friendly people call themselves portenos and value their immigrant heritage highly. They have a rich and elaborate cultural identity. This port city is the most European of all South American cities. With no single identifying monument or landmark, it is made up of captivating small neighborhoods of elegant 19th century buildings and street cafes, as likely as not in the shade of a modern skyscraper.
Business students on this CIEE program will take most courses at Pontificia Universidad Catolica Argentina (UCA) and others at the Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA), or FLASCO founded by UNESCO in 1957. CIEE students also participate in organized cultural excursions in and outside of the city.
Language requirement and courses
You must have completed six semesters of college level Spanish to be eligible for this program. Courses are taught in Spanish. Receive UW residence credits and grades. Students are required to take one Spanish language CIEE course based on their proficiency examination during orientation.
Some course offerings are available on the CIEE website, but the final list of host university courses will not be available until you arrive in Buenos Aires. This is a new program and we are currently getting courses equated. We will update this site as information becomes available.
This list is subject to change. Due to circumstances beyond our control such as enrollment limitations, time conflicts and course cancellations, International Programs cannot guarantee that participants will be admitted to their first choice of courses. Courses for any given semester are not determined until immediately prior to the start of the semester. Students must be prepared to be flexible.
Fall 2007 / Spring 2008 courses: Acct 100; GenBus 100; MHR 365, 628; MKT 300; Philo 201, 241, 243; Poli Sci 690

The course equivalency database and office binder will show Buenos Aires courses that have been equated and their UW equivalents. We will be happy to process new syllabi for equivalencies. Send them to internationaladvisor@bus.wisc.edu.
