New research by Assistant Professor of Marketing David Schweidel examining audience retention rates during television commercials was featured in an article in U.S. News & World Report. Schweidel’s research, “’Bargain Hunting’ in Television Advertising,” challenges some conventional ideas about commercial placements.

Linda Gorchels, faculty associate and director of the Marketing Management program in the Executive Education department, appeared on NBC-15 to discuss cost-effective steps employees can take to enhance their own professional development
Wisconsin School of Business Dean Michael Knetter recently contributed to a statewide primetime special on the economy, featuring Dennis Winters of Wisconsin’s Department of Workforce Development and Bill Testa of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. During the special, Dean Knetter provides an analysis of the current national and state economy, and describes key indicators to watch as we await an economic recovery.
The Wisconsin State Journal also published an Executive Q&A with Dean Knetter on his role at the business school and his reactions to current economic conditions.
Senior Lecturer Deborah Mitchell, Marketing, was featured in the first of a three-part National Public Radio series on how the concept of “free” is changing the way we do business.
Mitchell was also featured in an Associated Press story, picked up by CNBC.com among others, on why GM must differentiate its brands.
Steve Schroeder, director of Undergraduate Career Services at the Wisconsin School of Business, was quoted in a Capital Times article on the jobs outlook for graduates.
Realtor magazine covered news about the release of three databases on house price estimates. The databases were created by Assistant Professor of Real Estate Morris Davis (with coauthors) over the 2004-2006 period while serving at the Federal Reserve Board.

Andrew Taylor, director of the Bolz Center for Arts Administration, weighed in on a Los Angeles Times article looking into the $1 million salary of Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) Director Michael Govan.
Taylor was also featured in this Milwaukee Journal Sentinel article covering the recent “Arts in Crisis” tour led by Michael Kaiser, president of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. The tour made a stop at Madison’s Overture Center for the Arts on August 24.
