Assistant Professor Ann Terlaak, Management and Human Resources, is the 2009 recipient of the Emerging Scholar Award, Organizations and the Natural Environment Division, Academy of Management. The award goes to one early career scholar per year who has been published in premier journals and shown evidence of future sustained research productivity and impact.
Senior Lecturer Pete Lukszys, Marketing, received certification as a faculty “train-the-trainer” of ERPsim, a simulation game using SAP enterprise resource planning software. ERPsim is a real-time simulation in which students run their “business” with a real-life ERP (SAP ECC 6.0) system. He is one of 24 individuals in North America qualified to certify faculty in using this educational software. The ERPsim game will be used in Enterprise Systems and Supply Chain Management (MKT 365/765), which is offered in spring 2010.
Transitions
Binnu Palta Hill, who has served as the assistant director for the A.C. Nielsen Center for Marketing Research for the past three years, has been named director of diversity and climate for the Wisconsin School of Business. She will cultivate and promote diversity and multiculturalism within all program areas in the school through involvement in recruitment, retention and placement of students, as well as recruitment and retention of faculty and staff.
Jim Woodrum is now associate dean for the Wisconsin Enterprise MBA Programs. Previously, he was a faculty associate with Executive Education and director of its Mid-Management Development program. Deborah Mitchell, the former associate dean, is now executive fellow with the Center for Brand and Product Management. She continues to teach in the full-time MBA and Enterprise MBA programs.
Nancy Thompto and the Grainger Hall mail room have moved to room 1145, located on the west side of the building, next to the Brooks Street entrance.
Arrivals
Gwen Eudey has joined the business school as a senior lecturer with the Department of Finance, Investment and Banking, and with the Dean’s Office as assistant dean for business for non-business majors. She will also teach in the Economics Department. Previously, Eudey was a senior lecturer in the Department of Economics at the University of Pennsylvania. She has a B.A. in economics from University of California-Davis and a Ph.D. in Economics from UC-Berkeley. She received the Irving B. Kravis Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching from Penn’s Department of Economics in 2005. Prior to joining Penn, she was an economist with the Division of Research and Statistics with the Federal Reserve Board.
Departures
Seann Sweeney, assistant director of MBA marketing and recruiting, is leaving the Wisconsin School of Business to join the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education as resource center manager. His last day is September 4.
Emily Schmidt, student services coordinator in Undergraduate Academic Services, has resigned.
Vinni Pedersen, program coordinator in Executive Education, has retired.
