Faculty Present at European Summer Symposium in Economic Theory
August 1, 2009Wisconsin faculty had a strong presence at the European Summer Symposium in Economic Theory held in Gerzensee, Switzerland. François Ortalo-Magné, Real Estate, co-chaired the housing-focused portion of the symposium on “The Subprime Innovation and the Housing Crisis: What happened? What next?”
Morris Davis, Real Estate, presented on “House Prices and Mortgages and Wall Street and the Economy and Monetary and Fiscal Policy. . . In Less Than 45 Minutes!” As part of the housing session, Ortalo-Magné also presented with Andrea Prat (from the London School of Economics and CEPRE) on “Spatial Asset Pricing: A First Step” and Davis participated in a panel session with UW-Madison Finance Professor Tony Whited on “Agglomeration and Productivity: New Estimates and Macroeconomic Implications.”
Erwan Quintin, who currently works at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas and will be joining the UW-Madison Real Estate faculty in January of 2010, presented on the “Mortgage Innovation and the Foreclosure Boom” panel session. The Symposium was held in Geneva from June 29 through July 10, 2009.
