Consortium Honors Phil Miller for Service
July 1, 2009The Consortium for Graduate Study in Management, the country’s first equal-
opportunity graduate fellowship program for minorities, has honored Phil
Miller, assistant dean, PhD and research programs at the Wisconsin School of
Business. He was presented with the Sterling H. Schoen Achievement Award
in May. Miller has represented the Wisconsin School of Business with the
Consortium for several years and serves on the Consortium’s Board of Trustees.
The award was presented in recognition of “courageous leadership and
commitment to advancing the goal of equal opportunity and access to higher
education for people of color.”
Wisconsin was a charter member of the Consortium when it was founded in
1966. Since then, Wisconsin has had more than 500 Consortium alumni. As a
whole, the Consortium has more than 6,000 alumni fellows from all member
schools. There are 15 member schools.
The award was presented as a part of the Schoen Luncheon at the Consortium’s
43rd Annual Orientation Program in Charlotte, N.C. There were 17 new
Wisconsin Consortium fellows and several Wisconsin alumni and staff
in attendance.
