CIBER and Wisconsin School of Business Lead Effort to Deliver Workshop on Navigating the Global Marketplace
May 1, 2009The Wisconsin School of Business, led by the Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER), is heading a partnership between UW-Madison, Northcentral Technical College, and the Wisconsin Department of Commerce, to deliver a series of in-depth workshops for Northern Wisconsin businesses on increasing profits through export opportunities. The first workshop, “Navigating the Global Marketplace: Opportunities for Northern Wisconsin Business,” will be held Thursday, May 14, at Northcentral Technical College in Wausau. The event will feature as keynote Jeff Pharris, director of Asia-Pacific Regions at Harley-Davidson Motor Company. Kersi Antia, assistant professor of marketing, will lead a session on market entry strategies for firms beginning to export into international markets.
Attendees will learn how to get started in global trade and make valuable contacts to help carry out a successful international business strategy. Wisconsin experts and company representatives will lead information-filled sessions on the basics of export, development of international sales and distribution strategies, the mechanics of overseas transportation products, market opportunities around the world, and the logistics of receiving payment.
Suzanne Dove, director of outreach for CIBER, played a leading role in securing funding from the Baldwin Wisconsin Idea Endowment to support this effort and is an active member of the organizing committee.
