Students Compete in Deloitte Trueblood Cases

January 29, 2009

Deloitte hosted a case competition on Friday, November 21 in which 16 accounting students presented the results of their research and analysis of Deloitte Trueblood Cases. Each student group (listed below) was advised by a Deloitte professional and a faculty member. The winning team was Laura Felton, Danielle Harrison, Julie Polywka and Clint Urbach, faculty adviser of the winning team was Terry Warfield, and its Deloitte adviser was Pam Evason. The judging panel was comprised of Deloitte partners Danny Cunningham and P.J. Distefano and Assistant Professor Shana Clor-Proell. R.D. Nair, Ann O’Brien and Brian Mayhew also served as team advisers. The winning team advances to national competition in Scottsdale, Ariz., in April 2009.

This is the fifth year that the Andersen Center has worked with Deloitte on this program and it is a great co-curricular activity for our students, giving them an opportunity to work on “live” accounting issues with accounting professionals.

Accounting students will also be competing in the finals of the PricewaterhouseCoopers xTAX competition again this year. The students competing in the finals have already won at least $10,000 (and possibly up to $18,000) just by making it to the finals. Those students are: Luke Farrell, Jenna Lenz, Sara Schultz, Swati Gupta and Nathan Terhaar. Al Talarzyk and Jon Davis are co-coaches for the team.
